Dr. Rajiv is a pioneer in introducing advanced newborn care in India in 1991.He started his career in the Child Trust Hospital, Madras introducing ventilatory care in that region. Subsequently he introduced ventilatory care for the first time in Kerala in 1993.

A very seriously ill baby transported on a ventilator from Al Wasl hospital Dubai to Amrita Hospital Kochi under the care of Dr P K Rajiv. Due to inability to weal off ventilatory support. Currently baby has been discharged home on 10th November 2005 due to the expert care given by the team of doctors. This is the first time in Kerala a baby has been transported on a ventilator from overseas for expert care.
